Rugby

Rugby is a team sport that originated in England in the early 19th century. It is played with an oval-shaped ball on a rectangular field known as a pitch, with goalposts at each end. The objective of the game is to score points by carrying the ball over the opponent’s goal line and touching it down (a try) or by kicking it through the goalposts (a conversion or penalty kick).

Rugby is known for its physicality, with players engaging in tackles, scrums, and rucks. There are two main codes of rugby: Rugby Union, which typically features 15 players per side, and Rugby League, which has 13 players per side. Both codes share some similarities in rules and gameplay but differ in structure, strategy, and scoring. Rugby is played at various levels, from amateur to professional, and includes international competitions such as the Rugby World Cup. The sport emphasizes teamwork, strategy, and sportsmanship, making it a popular and respected athletic endeavor worldwide.
