LISA

LISA stands for “Laser Interferometer Space Antenna,” which is a planned space mission by the European Space Agency (ESA). It aims to detect and measure gravitational waves in space. Gravitational waves are ripples in spacetime caused by some of the most violent and energetic processes in the universe, such as merging black holes or neutron stars. LISA will consist of three spacecraft arranged in a triangular formation, flying millions of kilometers apart, and will use laser interferometry to measure changes in distances between these spacecraft caused by passing gravitational waves. This mission is expected to provide significant insights into the nature of gravity, cosmic events, and the structure of the universe.
